Whether you’re entertaining a group, catering a special event, giving corporate gifts, or just stocking the freezer, we’re happy to help. When you need a large quantity of goodies from our online bakery shop, we are happy to accommodate your bulk orders. The following items are available in bulk:

Whoopie Pie is a simple, yet delicious Amish and Mennonite dessert consisting of two round pieces of cake with a creamy filling between them.
You can buy whoopie pies at Bird-in-Hand Bakery, Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant in the gift shop or order online.
It’s like an inside-out cupcake. The cake is on the outside and the frosting is in the middle. It looks like a sandwich cookie but tastes like cake. One thing is for certain – it is delicious.
Our traditional whoopie pies feature two layers of our home-baked cake filled with a generous layer of our extra smooth and creamy filling. Choose classic chocolate with a vanilla filling, or try one of our other popular and seasonal flavor combinations:
So long as they are stored in an airtight container (plastic wrap does this very well) the whoopie pies can be kept in a refrigerator for an extended period of time, or even left in room temperature conditions for 1-2days depending on your choice of filling.
Store your Whoopie Pies in an airtight container or wrapping. We recommend wrapping in tin foil and freezing our shoofly pies, whoopie pies and cookies if you’re not going to consume them within 1-2 days after receiving them. Otherwise, you can wrap them in plastic wrap and leave them on the kitchen counter if you plan on snacking on the treat in a day or two. Take note of the filling, however, as some might require refrigeration.
According to more than one account, the Whoopie Pie was invented by ingenious Amish women who used leftover cake batter and frosting to make small, practical yet delicious cakes. When their husbands opened their lunchboxes after an arduous morning of work, they would exclaim “Whoopie” whenever these treats were found. Read more about the origin of the Whoopie Pie.
Yes. We recommend refrigerating due to the filling, but as long as it’s stored in an airtight container it can rest at room temperature for a duration of a day or two. Inside each of our whoopie pies is a delicious creamy center that is prone to melting.
Whoopie pie is a delicious treat any time of day, any season of the year. Silverware is optional and the pie can be enjoyed with or without a plate thanks to the layer of chocolate cake that surrounds the creamy filling. To enjoy Whoopie Pies with your favorite ice cream we do recommend a spoon at least.
Our traditional Whoopie Pies are filled with vanilla buttercream, the typical Whoopie Pie filling! We stick to the fundamentals of delicious baked desserts with simple ingredients:
- Butter
- Powdered sugar
- Milk/cream
- Vanilla extract
A Moon Pie is covered in a thin layer of chocolate. Cutting it open, you’ll find two soft graham cracker cookies surrounding a marshmallow filling. Whoopie Pies on the other hand do away with the chocolate layer and are more cake-like despite its appearance as a cookie.
