Create Memories for a Lifetime

In the heart of the village, the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn is built on land that has been in the Smucker family for generations – since 1925, when John E. Smucker bought the farm from his father-in-law. Today, we have 125 rooms and continue to improve on our resort-style country inn for the benefit of our Guests. We are in the process of renovating and expanding rooms and updating our lobby and other facilities.

With indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, and other recreational facilities, our Bird-in-Hand country inn is the perfect place for an active family. We offer unique experiences like Fireside S’Mores and free ice cream socials with the Smucker family that help make for a memorable family vacation. You can pull up a lawn chair and watch horse-drawn Amish buggies go by or hot air balloons launch from the field across the road. Plus, our location puts us in the middle of everything you want to see and do. This Bird-in-Hand inn is next to our Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord and Bird-in-Hand Stage. We’re also just a stone’s throw from our Bird-in-Hand Bakery & Cafe and just a short drive from popular Lancaster County attractions such as Kitchen Kettle Village, Dutch Wonderland, Sight & Sound Theatre and the Strasburg Railroad.

For convenience and value, ask about our meal and/or stage packages when you make a reservation at the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn.

“My dad took me to Bird-in-Hand when I was a child. Our first vacation at the Family Inn was in 1986, when I was 10. As part of a promotional package, my brother and I got wooden nickels to redeem at the Bake Shop. Years later, when I was in my 30s, I took them to the Bake Shop to be redeemed. The staff laughed, because the promotion had ended long ago, but they took them anyway as a memory of the old days. Most places would never do that.”
