Discover Lancaster County this fall and indulge in the ultimate getaway for foodies as cuisine and culture come together in this harvest tour. Enjoy the cool, crisp air, colorful leaves and beauty of our area as we explore local foods of the harvest season. Meet our family farmers and Amish neighbors and learn how they produce their wholesome foods. These unforgettable visits will include a flavorful luncheon using locally grown foods.
The Harvest Tour includes:
- A two-night stay in the historic Bird-in-Hand Village Inn & Suites
- Tours of local farms and a lunch made with ingredients from our tour
- Tours of a cheese making farm, Kauffman’s Fruit Farm and a Bakery demonstration
- Daily deluxe continental breakfasts for two at the Village Inn & Suites or credit at the Bird-in-Hand Bakery & Cafe
- A dinner for two at the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord
- A welcome market basket filled with local foods
Tour and taste your way through Lancaster County:
|8:00 am||Welcome by Bird-in-Hand owner John Smucker, with either John or a local farmer friend of the Smucker family as your personal tour guide|
|8:30 am||Take an orchard tour of Kauffman’s Fruit Farm & Market, watch their apple peeling process and see how they make their apple butter and cider. We’ll savor samples and there will be time to shop in their market.|
|10:00 am||Visit Misty Creek Goat Dairy and meet the owner, an Amish farmer known and appreciated for his artisanal cheeses, all of which are made on his farm. Watch the cheese making process, see the goats and sample the food. Take home some cheese or shop his variety of goats milk soaps and lotions.|
|11:15 am||Luncheon at the Village Inn & Suites featuring locally grown foods|
|1:00 pm||Tour Oasis of Bird-in-Hand, a Real Live Food cooperative of Amish farmers. We’ll learn the benefits of drinking milk from grass-fed cows and watch them make their drinkable yogurts and milks. Sample their products and take a moment to shop in their store.|
|1:45 pm||Tour the Menno Tea mint fields and learn how they brew delicious tea inspired by a “meadow tea” family recipe from Lancaster County.|
|2:15 pm||From the patch to the pie, see how the Bird-in-Hand Bakery & Cafe makes our famous pumpkin pies with home-grown pumpkins. Sample this fall favorite and even try our handcrafted pumpkin artisan ice cream made with pumpkin pie crust.|

Includes two night stay in a standard room or junior suite (double occupancy, based on limited availability; upgrade to a large suite for $50 or to a grand suite for $100), the farm tour, luncheon, a welcome market basket, two deluxe breakfast buffets and a dinner for two at the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord.
