Creative Make & Take: Whisks and Brooms

Take your pick of three classes by Meckley Brooms

Learn a traditional art and go home with something that’s both beautiful and immensely practical. In these hands-on workshops, you’ll experience working with craftcorn and/or broomcorn to make cleaning and kitchen tools like brooms, whisks and scrubbers. They’ll make a colorful addition to your home—or great Mother’s Day gifts.

  • In the two-hour Kitchen Gift Set class, you’ll make a cake tester, pot scrubber and whisk from all-natural broomcorn and thread in your choice of colors.
  • In the hour-long Cobweb Broom class, you’ll use natural craftcorn to make a slender, lightweight broom for those hard-to-reach places, choosing colors for both the handle and thread color.
  • The two-hour Wonderful Whisks class provides an opportunity to make colorful whisk brooms in both hen’s tail and hawktail styles, with an unlimited choice of broomcorn and thread colors.

Meckley Brooms upholds a family tradition of handmade corn brooms that spans more than a century.

RSVP required for all classes. Registration fees vary by class and include instruction and all materials; 50% deposit required at sign-up. Walk-ins welcome if space is available prior to start time.
