Tour the farms • Taste the harvest

Feed your mind and delight your palate as you visit local Lancaster County farms, learn about their unique operations and sample the fruits of their labors. John Smucker is your host for this tour, which includes a flavorful luncheon featuring fresh, locally grown foods. It’s the ultimate farm-to-fork experience!

Tour Stops:

5:30 am Depart from the Gathering Placxe entrance at the Desmond House, Bird-in-Hand Village Inn & Suites for organic Amish milking and Breakfast at Aaron Lantz’s farm and home.
7:30 am Watch our friends at Kauffman’s Fruit Farm & Market make apple butter and cider – then savor samples and shop for goodies to take home.
9:15 am Amish farmer Amos Miller at Misty Creek Goat Dairy will demonstrate how to make goat cheese – and share samples. You can shop for goat’s milk soaps and lotions too.
11:00 am At Oasis of Bird-in-Hand, a Real Live Food cooperative of Amish farmers, learn about the benefit of milk from grass-fed cows.
12:00 pm Lunch of locally grown foods at Bird-in-Hand Village Inn & Suites
1:00 pm See how Bird-in-Hand Bakery & Cafe makes our famous pies with home-grown pumpkins – and taste the results. You can even try our handcrafted pumpkin gingersnap artisan ice cream.

The Harvest Tour package includes a two-night stay for two at any of our lodging properties in a standard room, a lunch of locally-grown foods, daily breakfasts for two, dinner for two at the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant & Smorgasbord, plus a market basket filled with local foods (one per room). We’ll be doing some walking, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Lodging Harvest Tour packages start at $470 plus tax. Extend your stay starting at $99 per night, plus tax.
