DESCRIPTION:Create a whimsical critter using wool fiber and a felting needle  \nTry your hand at the popular art of needle felting under the guidance of Lancaster-based fiber artist Dot Rineer of Woolies. Designed for adult beginners\, this hands-on workshop will cover the craft’s basic tools and techniques\, including using a barbed needle and a cookie cutter to shape your creation. You’ll go home with a sweet little sheep sculpted from wool. \nDot Rineer took her first class in needle felting at the Lancaster Quilt Museum in 2004. The art is believed to have evolved from wet felting in Central Asia thousands of years ago. It became popular in the 1980s when two American fiber artists adapted industrial felting needles for artistic purposes. Today\, Dot uses the technique to create whimsical creatures and characters out of wool—usually sheep or alpaca—with hand-sewn embellishments. \nClass size is limited\, so reserve your space soon. There are two sessions starting at 10 a.m. and noon. Enjoy a weekend of spectacular hot air balloon glows and laser light shows\, music\, family activities\, food trucks\, craft vendors and more. \nYou’ll find lots to do in the afternoon and evening. Ascend in a tethered balloon\, weather permitting. Browse our retailers’ offerings. If you’re bringing little ones\, take a wagon ride\, visit our kids’ area\, and let them burn off some energy in the bounce houses. Grab a bite to eat from our food trucks; each will offer a special bacon-themed dish in addition to its regular menu. \nAt 8:30\, the lights come on and the fun kicks into high gear. Watch as massive tethered hot air balloons illuminate the night and state-of-the-art laser displays paint the sky with brilliant colors.
