Gary Stockin\, of Stockin’s Apiaries\, will give an informal talk about beekeeping and honeybees at Artisan Village and will have honeycomb on hand for tasting. \nIn his short presentation on beekeeping\, you’ll learn what hives are and the role of each type of bee in the hive. He’ll talk about combs and bring frames to show drone comb cells\, worker cells and queen cells. You’ll also learn about the life cycle of a bee and what swarming is\, and he’ll share his decades-long experience of how beekeepers collect and process honey. You’ll also get insight into the values of various bee products\, such as honey\, pollen and propolis. \nDrop in anytime during the hour and bring your questions. All guests will receive a special keepsake from our tour. \nThe excursion begins and ends at the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn\, where you’ll board our tour bus for a morning of shopping in our village\, Leola\, Intercourse and other Lancaster County towns.
